How early can I book her in for an MOT?

I've used the search function and I'm a bit flabbergasted this has never been asked on here Whistle

My dynamic will turn 3 years old on 01/03/17 I don't know where the times goes tbh they grow up so quick Rolling with laughter

How quick can I book her in for an MOT? If I book my car in for an MOT now will it be valid until 01/03/18? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I seem to remember if it's the first mot then you don't get the calendar month, but could be wrong.

I was wrong!

"You can renew or book in for your first MOT up to a month before its due and an MOT certificate will be valid for 12 months following the test. Only a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) approved MOT centre will be acceptable."

No mention of post dating first test. Embarassed 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

1st MOT cannot be post dated

Subsequent tests can be post dated, with the vehicle presented up to 1 calendar month before expiry, whilst a fail/partial retest must be presented within 14 days, or another full test will apply

Of course, should it fail on anything, it would hopefully be picked up under the remaining manufacturers warranty, providing it's not a wear/tear item Whistle

Thumbs Up

I must admit, this is the first car that I can remember in a long time that has needed an MOT, normally get shut every three years.
My mileage is not what it used to be so kept hold, although it's starting to show signs of needing little bits doing, I think 2017 might be the year to swap.

Thanks gents Thumbs Up

Taz the search brought up sod all Thud Banging Head

I'm keeping her as the mileage on her is nothing! Under 9,000 miles and I've owned her from new and spent a few pennies on extras. There is nothing out their to tempt me to part ex at the moment and in all honesty and if there was I'd still keep it as I'm happy with the car! my mx5 had it's first mot in September and it was done 3 weeks before it was due, and it covers the year plus the 3 weeks.

If I log a vehicle onto the system prior to starting the test and the current test has more than 1 month (or 30 days, can't remember which), the computer says something along the lines of "vehicle too early to allow any extra credit on new test expiry date". Pretty sure I've seen the same message when logging one on for its first test so yes, you can have them done up to a month early and not lose any time. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Recently had my first MOT (and passed) but oddly, when I had my three year service in November, the dealer didn't do the MOT as they had the car as first registered in February 2014 instead of the V5 date of November 2013.

It's an ex LR car too... you think they'd have got it right on their own database eh...
