Advisory notice item(s) transmission fault light on

Advisory notice item(s) transmission fault light on
Hi guys hopefully joining your ranks.
Looking at a freelander to buy and noticed the above on the mot. Seller says it is just in need of a gearbox oil and filter change.
Can it be that simple or should I leave it.
Many thanks
D

FL2 transmission and 4wd system is complex and can be costly to repair, so unless you know for certain exactly what you're dealing with and what it will cost to fix I'd leave it. You could be looking at a large bill, and I doubt that an oil and filter change will fix it.

No decent retailer would bring it to market without it being done if it was that simple would they. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

When was it MOT'd? It might have been fixed by previous owner already. Is the warning light on now?

what gearbox filter?

The auto for sure would require a complete gearbox strip down just to get to the oil strainer.

OK mines an auto, but the oil was first changed around 175k miles, with no transmission fault signal. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
