Fascia removal

I'm hoping someone can advise me. Around the TRC dial are four symbols which glow red to show which mode is selected.

The two above the dial are however not lighting up. (one occasionally flickers on and off) The system is working and the dashboard also displays the symbols correctly.

I would like to access the lamps and change / check the light fitments if I can.

Can anyone advise how to remove the dial/fascia before I start breaking things!

Thank you in advance.

Get your fingers or similar under the chrome surround to the rear of the gear leaver and prise up, it is clipped into the centre consul and can then be worked out I had to move the gear lever into drive to give me more room then I think the tertian selector can be removed from that surround.

The lights are LEDs
The link below gives advice on modifying the module, but should you just want to repair it, then it is a good place to start.

Sorry I can't help with how to remove the unit, as it is a long time since I did mine. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Thanks for the advice. Didn't realise they would be soldered in LCDs. May well leave well alone.

It's extremely unlikely that the LED chip will be faulty although it is possible one end has a cracked solder joint. Much more likely is that there is some other fault on the board. If it is vibration sensitive then it is probably going to be a solder issue around one of the larger chips and this would need special tools and skills to reflow the solder.

Maybe try for a replacement from a wrecker? 2008 Freelander 2 i6 Alaska White - current

The whole assembly can be found on eBay for £20-£30 if all else fails
