Piece of cake, I changed all 4 bulbs last weekend, took about 15 minutes. All you need is a 10mm socket or spanner, once you've undone the two bolts on top release the plastic catch at the rear. I then find it easier to disconnect the multipin electric plug and take the complete headlamp unit away from the car, you can do it in situ but there's not much slack in the wiring. I changed mine for the Osram night breakers back in December and took some photos for a comparison but was disappointed by the lack of improvement but had a sneaky suspicion that this could be down to alignment but until recently I hadn't got around to doing anything about it. Someone managed to scratch my car in the carpark at work and it has just been fixed, while it was in I asked them to check the alignment and it has made a big difference so it seems that alignment is required after changing the headlamp bulbs unless you are lucky. When I get a chance to get some pictures done with the Osrams I will post them. |

I had exactly the same experience. Re-alignment is indeed required. (which I find rather strange...)

Have to say for the numerous changes of bulb my headlamps have had re-alignment has not been an issue. I'm very mindful of the alignment and have been very (and pleasantly) surprised at the consistent accuracy when the units have been reinstalled. I thought that bulbs were made with consistent dimensions to prevent the need for realigment, well thats always been my experience over many years of motoring. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor ... but not any more ... ... psst look at my gallery!

What actually is involved with re-alignment? I ask this as I'm about to install some Philips Blue vision on the dipped beam this weekend and all of you have mentioned alignment. I take it it's nothing to do with manual adjustment wheel in the dash to compensate for weight on the back in situations like van towing. Is it the old 10 feet from a wall, level ground etc ? Have you guys done it yourselves or is it simply best done by a dealer...and of course, how much do they typically charge for the pleasure? |

I just dropped the bulbs in and drove off. simples. but I seem to have been lucky. I should really go to a garage with the correct machine to correctly align them At work
