I didn't pay the slightest bit of attention to indentations or the like. Like CG said, each bulb is made slightly differently. Variations in the glass etc etc. I think even if you're happy with them, you'd still be surprised at how much difference it can make when they actually align them to the machine (which reminds me a bit of an old OHP to be honest!).

I looked in Halfords for bulbs at the time and saw own brand ones (which are apparently made by Ring) and some other brand too. Can't remember the make now - Bosch or one of these perhaps. Anyhoo.. I just remembered from that magazine review, there was a list on the right of the page that had a number out of 100 for how good the beam was on each bulb. I think the Philips were the only ones to get 100, hence why I went for them.

I'd look again if I could be arsed but I can't! Very Happy 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

Just fitted H4 Night Breakers to the Alfa - very pleased with them, a definite improvement over the glow worms previously fitted Smile Found the best price on eBay from PowerBulbs, delivered in a box next day.

Under "FAQ" there's an interesting official answer as regards the expected lifetime.

24 Euro = 21 GBP. Could be even more by the end of the week...

Easily cheaper:
17.88 GBP at autobulbs direct if you use disc code "jandisc" + postage free.

Do I win a prize?

I followed Lee for a while on the way to Kielder (before he sped off at lightspeed on the snowy roads). He later said he had to speed up as my lights where too bright in his mirrors, maybe I need to get them re-aligned Confused

I was actually getting dazzled by his bright orange paint...nothing to do with my lights Laughing At work

Yesterday I noticed that one of my highbeam headlights is broken so -maybe - I'll give it a try.

quoting myself... that's cool isn't it ? Mr. Green

This morning I took out the broken highbeam bulb but noticed that is wasn't... Idea I rang the dealer and this afternoon they had a look at it. One of the pins of the socket was wrongly positioned and they repaired it under warranty.
At the same time this morning I replaced the dipped headlights by Osram Night Breakers though and so I asked my dealer to check the alignment. They clearly had to be re-aligned - just as Chicken George warned us for.
