WC = Wine Cooler

Washing Machine is stuck in the kitchen, however I do have a downstairs bedroom, which has a en-suite toilet, the shower in that en-suite, i took out and made in to a utility cupboard to house a dryer, in theory the washer would fit and a new shelf built above to house the dryer. Plumbing is there, for the shower and the shower basin is there for the waste (i boxed in in with MDF)

Thinking lots of hard work, to do and my daughter is going to be moving in to that room, instead of having it as a games room, so a washing machine will be best not used when she's in bed

room for thought though

PS Good point on the dishwasher, that might be better suited else were, though the corner cupboard is a walk in larder, so going in there at the same time as loading a dish washer, wouldn't happen often, could go next the to washer, but a bit of a trek from the sink Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I always though that kitchen cupboards were about hiding your clutter rather than displaying how many packets of breakfast cereal you have. Very Happy 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

so far so good with Wren

Measurement and design stage went perfect, took the wife down to show her what i have chosen, on Friday and she decided that she liked different doors, chose the worktop, swapped the kitchen sink and made me pay the deposit

So far so good, now for a chat about the sparkling floor tiles she saw this weekend at £99 per m2 Banging Head Thud Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

well further to my foray in to Wren, placing £1k deposit and then finding Wren Kitchen disasters on Facebook i was reading some horror stories, parts not turning up, parts been wrong, parts been replaced with wrong item, very poor quality and fitters not fitting correctly, 18 month start to finish projects that should have taken 3 weeks Shocked , leaks, electric issues, the list could go on Neutral

i postponed it when they wanted my balance paying as needed to sort other things first, but decided to cancel and got my money back as i just cant be bothered with the hassle they would cause, so back to the drawing board in a month or two to find a better supplier Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've had a couple of kitchens installed and used very small local companies. They use better waterproof chipboard for the cupboard carcasses for a start. Nothing was too difficult.

The last kitchen we stuck the cooktop on one bench, and the oven under another bench. It's great when you are using the cooktop, you are not being heated by the oven at the same time. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

You get pot luck with any fitters, my first Wren fitters were a disaster trying to fit a 2 day job into one day, left at 8pm with a cross threaded U bend leaking like a sieve, fitted panels the wrong way round. Yes there were a couple of wrong parts, but all sorted very quickly even ended up with nice garage cupboards as they fit new not change doors and aren't interested in the replaced items. We refused to let the first set of fitters back and got new ones who were good, the kitchen is now 3 years old and is good except for the sink hole trim which was plastic chrome rather than stainless steel and has turned to its original black plastic.
Next door neighbour also bought one but went for her own fitter, I believe she was involving the small claims court when we left as the worktops now will never fit.
Contract kitchen fitters are paid by the unit number size, they then opt to make the most from that by short cutting, adding or subtracting fitters to the crew, whether or not paying twice the price for a kitchen gives you satisfaction is moot and it can still be a disaster. With Wren you get a longer warranty if you use their fitters, go for the interest free deal and don't sign the form until you are satisfied, no money tends to focus their minds, especially the sales person as he gets no commission until the satisfaction note is signed. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

If you have the time then doing a kitchen is not rocket science, it's just a load of carcasses bolted together with doors stuck on the front. When newly retired my daughter bought a small terraced house and planned and designed everything for the kitchen from IKEA. It took me about 2 weeks to completely strip out the old stuff and take it to the local dump then install everything and tile floor and walls. That included getting a jig and cutting worktop joints with a router. The bad news is that she has just moved to a bigger house and is in planning mode again. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Fitting isn't a problem I have a fitter sorted and it was less than a grand to do so ncluding electrics and water pipes moving

It's more a supplier issue, as I want quality items and not something that will fall apart before it's fitted or not be matching

I have a few options to tackle it when I get round to it shortly Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I went with DIY Kitchens. Quality excellent and price way cheaper than anywhere else.

http://www.diy-kitchens.com/?gclid=Cj0KEQi...Ao5t8P8HAQ

The units are delivered pre-assembled which saves on fitting cost-you just need to adjust door fit, legs and fix to walls. I wouldn't use fitters from Wren if you go down that route. Save yourself money and find a local fitter. Our kitchen cost £600 to install (it's smaller than yours though!!). DIY were also way cheaper for the silestone worktop. They are based in Yorkshire so well worth taking a look.

diy kitchen worked out to be £2500 more than wren and the units that were floor to ceiling were about 15cm shorter so would have had a larger gap at the top Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
