A couple of years ago our electric oven packed up. Most of our cooking (and central heating) is done with an oil fired Rayburn and the single oven is mainly used for it's grill function. So we looked for a replacement and my wife was insistent on having a "variable grill" but discovered that most "variable grills" on the market work not by varying the temperature of the grill element but by varying the distance of the food from element which runs at constant heat. One of the very few she found that seemed to be properly variable was NEFF.

Apart from that I take the view that most domestic appliances use the same or similar internal components and that styling and brand are all that you get for your money. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

You can test if a pan will work with induction with a magnet.

Think twice about a combi oven, they can not be pyro (AFAIK) and so get pretty filthy with no easy way to clean them (that we've found at least).

Not too bothered buying new pans

My current Circlon ones are induction ready from memory, but I want to swap to pans that have not got a pan handle sticking out, sick n tired of trying to get them all in a cupboard with the handles sticking out and blocking one thing or another like the door closing etc

New kitchen has a 1000mm pan draw below the hob, when we had at the old house and it was great

Just trying to decide if electric opening draws and wall cabinets are too much of a gimmick or worth it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

olive branch are/were behind sandbeck vauxhall garage, the posh shop is in the center of Wetherby they are the silly priced ones

olive branch did my kitchen 10 years ago, still as good as new, needs a new worktop around belfast sink perhaps but thats wood for you. not fitted - freestanding units
maybe a bit to country kitchen style for you anyways, you will be ramming as much stuff in kitchen as possible to re-create that tiny space, no elbow room caravan experience Whistle At work

electric doors and drawers Rolling Eyes imagine a pan handle sticking out as it shuts so draw pops open ala a car window, Then you walk into it whilst going the fridge for another G&T, hurting your shins and spilling precious GIN

Like most stuff these days, unnecessary and more to go wrong. If like us you get power cuts when the wind blows you definitely don't need anything like that. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Had many a happy experience in the kitchen with the pan handle sticking out Whistle

Electric opening ... no, kitchens are busy places, you dont have time for the drawer to open slowly, pointless, if your that lazy get a pizza menu

It's the high wall mounted ones, when open would be out of the kids reach to close, the button wasn't though, as the design I like has doors that lifts up not pull sideways opening

Button=closed cupboards Very Happy ignore the coolness factor Cool Laughing

Most likely not cost effective either, as the saying goes if you can't see a price, you can't afford it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We've just ordered our new kitchen from a local place, they told us to go to ao.com for appliances as they would be far cheaper. We've a Siemens double oven and Neff hob waiting in the garage to be fitted. A Bosch dishwasher will be fitted to replace the Beko one that was in the house when we bought it.

Wife would not consider induction as she's not tried it before and hates the old electric hobs. The sink will be white granite as we were warned off black as the lim scale will mean we (I) will be forever cleaning it.

thats a bit of a mix and match appliances, Smile

i always like the same brand, hob, oven extractor, things like the integrated fridge/freezers can be what ever as you dont see them, might need to send the hotpoint microwave back to the shop and buy a matching one though or buy hotpoint Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

the draws electric opening, basically you bump them, the electric motor pushes them, and the slide open, you push them closed and they soft close, so open as fast as they slide, not too slow not too fast

the downdraft extractor i was looking at, now they do open slowly, the pan would be boiling before it had opened and caught any steam

any way, basic layout below Thumbs Up

WC in kitchen is different Laughing this however would allow you to banish the dreaded washing machine to the room formerly the downstair loo,, sound proof the door and your sorted.

more seriously this is the time to banish the washing machine to another room if possible.

Also dishwasher next to corner cupboard, fine if you can open both at same time, not so great for unloading other wise

I always say you should have 2 dishwashers, use clean stuff out of one and put dirty in other on a rota system, same could be said for washing machines is you like the creasy look

scrap the lot and have a phone for takeaways and an extra large bin for the boxes and plastic cutlery.?? At work
