Freelander 2 SE Auto 2007 Intermittent Starting ?

Hello
Has anyone had and problems with intermittent sratring ?
2007 Freelander 2 se auto

Put fob into dash board, foot on brake, press start button, lights come, makes the usual clicking noises but engine doesn't turn.
After a couple of attempts it then starts ?

The fuel mileage reading also seems to 0 itself some of the times ?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

You need an update of the Central Junction Box and instruments software.
Use the forum search feature and you'll find the necessary info.
Technical Service Bulletin 00093, if I remember correctly....

So, after trying to book the car in for a software update, was told from various landrover specialists that it could be anything from a starter motor to a new ecu and was advised to get a vhc....
I tried a diffetent tactic and disconnected the battery for 10 min's......
The problem seemed to have been solved.
Been just under 1 week now and (hope this doesn't jinks it) but busts into life every time.....

Just hope it stays that way.....

Will update if it happens again

listen carefully for the sound of the steering lock engaging and disengaging when inserting the fob and when taking the fob out. You won't notice it until it's missing but it is always just after you put the key in and just after you take it out. Next time it happens try looking at this thread here: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic27349.htm...d3d290f052

I had intermittent things like this until I fitted a heavy duty extra earth strap and changed the battery.
