Trying but not succeeding to update my sat nav

Hi, can anyone help me with this. Seen loads of stuff about sat nav upgrades but cannot find anyone who has had this problem.
Loaded new sat nav disc (2015) to update my maps (07 disk) but nothing happens!!! I don't get any prompts to update the firmware......nothing..........
but with the new disk in i can still use the sat nav, set destination and get driving instructions,

OK the new disk isn't a landrover original but most people seem to get their disks to update

Any ideas much appreciated, except (buy a tom tom or use landrover disks)
Thanks in advance

OK. I have been talking to the guy who sells these map updates. He says its just a map update and no firmware update is included. i'm trying to update from 07 maps to 2016 maps. According to him on my 07 maching there is no hard drive and all maps and navigation is done from the dvd. Can anyone else confirm this???
All the other info i have read on here about the sat nav map updates mention there are firmware upgrades included

Censored i WILL buy a tom tom if this doesn't work.................

One other thing why does the landrover sat nav insist on trying to get you back on the original route, rather than re routing you like other sat navs????

When I updated my old car sat nav 2007 to 12/13 it took about 15 minutes to update and there was a slight change in the function buttons if I remember rightly. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

It should bring up a screen saying updating, mine did then you wait and let it do its thing which took 15 minutes. Sometimes it takes longer. If you do a search on this forum you'll see what I mean. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

To check if it has updated find a recently named road, say in the last 12 months on
a new build site locally and see if it finds it, if it does you know youre up to date within the last year, if it doesnt find it then its not updated or the update is well out of date?

There is definitely a software upgrade when going from 2007 to 2014 maps as it did occur on my car when i put the new disk in.

There are 2 option that might occur, one the disk you got is marked as 2015 but it is actually an older version, second option your Sat Nav software was already upgraded before.

As the older FL2 models did not had HDD the DVD is containing all the maps but the satnav unit does have a small program built in on it which will contain among other things all the buttons and colors.

i can look tomorrow and let you know which button was added after the upgrade

There was a thread on here about putting dvd in pc, reading a file, and confirming what year it is.

After starting navigation guidness press menu and you should see (or not) the "cancel guidness" button, i am almost sure it was not there before the upgrade.

OK on mine I have to press menu then navigation options. Then i get the cancel routeThat means i still have to original 2007 software i do think that the maps were updated. The guy who sold me the dvd said it was just a map update.
By the looks of it though updating the software only make a minor change...........so maybe i'll not bother.
Thanks for the pics Dresdner, much appreciated

I've just updated (I think) to the 2015-6 maps.

However when I inserted the new disc I got a message on-screen saying that software needed to be updated (it quoted new and old versions, I can't remember the numbers but the existing was 4 digits and I think the new had A as it second character the other 3 were digits?). It gave me the option to remove the disc to cancel the upgrade. I did this and reinserted the original disc. The screen then froze and after consulting the disc supplier I reinserted the new disc and let it continue unassisted.

After about 20 minutes the screen unfroze and I had satnav back in operation with the new disc still inserted so I'm assuming that its using the 2015-6 maps.

Is there a way to tell that this is the case from the satnav system in the car?
