I'm taking a guess at what's happening to some people on here whos software is not updating as mine did the same. Just updated the maps but no software update.
Could it be that the previous owner of the car had already updated the software and maps but on selling the car they just put in an older disk??
I reckon that happened to mine as when i put in 2015 disk it just updated the maps.
To get to the "cancel route" i just have to go to "route options" and there is a button there to cancel

Lots of talk about Disc's can members state if it third party or genuine, could be the third party are just map update while genuine has software update.
also year of vehicle year as the system changed from DVD storage maps to memory

Maybe if you put a genuine discs in it would upgrade the software then add the maps disc afterwards, so need to borrow a latest disk to test that theory,

Mine is a 2008 DVD based system, and I think that the third party disc,s only contain the maps as these are public domain and the Software is copyrighted, so they cant include the software upgrade.

It add to the confusion, seems like some third party disc,s are pirate copies and some could be legal current maps.

There is some loophole as the maps are sold here and in the USA, both counties have strong copyright laws

just found a bit about input while driving,
I remember on my Chrysler 300 Hemi, the original disc would not allow input whilst driving (US Federal Law), and the third party discs allowed that function.

Do the original discs have input while driving blocked? to comply with UK law? is so mine allows this and must have had an upgrade by PO

Just a thought as there don't seem a simple way to find out version

I just checked my third party "update disc" and it does not have the cancel guidance button.

Did the update yesterday with discs from the same source as Dresdner has purchased from. Upgrade of my 08' System took about 10min. After inserting one of the DVDs I had a grey screen with the update message on the display. During the update the Navigation button is deactivated.

Update went smooth without any problems. I have now a new graphical country selector and most of the Eastern Europe countries available.

Mine is a June 2012 last of the disc system and it is time to update as the map is 2011, What I don't want is to end up with the system software going backwards, so if anyone has had a map upgrade of the maps that works, it will save me making up new discs from another system please send a PM. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Well I just got an email from the Disc ier, saying they are sending another disc that has the upgrade, bit strange I did not get it in the first place, will try again when the disc arrives.

I can confirm that the older versions do not have the Cancel Guidance key on the main menu but the latest version does.

Well tried the replacement disc, it did do something this time, the scree kept going blank for about 30 mins, after that the GPS seemed to work and the CANCEL GUIDENCE button appeared on the main menu screen.

Also a phone search button that I am pretty sure was not there before (need to double check this.)

But the search area and the digital country map was blank, and when trying to input address or post code it says NO DATA

So I've made a little progress,

I have emailed the supplier, to see if they can come up with a solution, any members have or had this problem? (no digital map or search area blank)


I'm getting quite a collection of Navigation discs, apart from the original Freelander marked 2007-2008

I have a 2016 disc marked B, and a 2014-2015 marked D
