That reading was after we reached Skye and filled up at the first garage. Pleased to say that I've used a tank and a half over 1200 miles...........pretty good mpg me thinks |

Unbelievable!! Even if I drive my TD4 manual like Mother Theresa I get nowhere near those kind of figs. I have failed in 7,500 miles to get 500 miles out of a tank (and that's running it down to fumes). |

Mazda reckoned 25mpg combined & I never got more than 19mpg!!! I've been driving my FL2 like a granny to see what mpg is possible, but only 30min max journeys, done 230 miles so far and range left is 330 |

Have you converted Scots miles to English miles though? makes the figures much more interesting |

Must be down to driving style, since i started checking (only 2wks ago) the very best I've had is 27 mpg with my normal 'Brisk' driving style, my pal used it yesterday did 211 miles and averaged 33.9!

For Podcast - I think it is better not to coast anywhere! I have heard it said that modern engines don't use fuel when in gear and accelerator peddle is not depressed.

Fair comment but engine braking is only needed if you can't coast up to a junction and need abit of extra retardation. Surely 2000rpm use more fuel than 800rpm & the mpg gauge always ticks up 0.1 when I do it? |

I agree that if you use the engine braking momentum of the car when slowing, it uses less fuel than ticking over with the clutch dipped and coasting to a halt |
