My indie garage replaced my rear pads at my last MOT in February (around 82k). They also replaced the discs as they had severe pitting. Also got an advisory that the fronts are close

Had to have the bearings replaced a few weeks ago on the rears and they also replaced the handbrake pads as these had worn down to the metal (89k miles).

Not sure of the history of this car (fully service history with LR dealer) but I suppose at this mileage it is to be expected. Although try and explain that to the wife who thinks the car is a money pit.

35k so far on a 13 plate and the dealer said my pads were fine.

I always ask though as I had a toyota that needed a new set of discs and brakes every 20K so really happy that the FL2 is still going strong on the same set at 35k.

The rear discs are much smaller than the front discs on the FL2. Also, IIRC, the fronts are vented and the rears are not. Therefore, depending on driving and vehicle loading factors, it is perfectly possibly that the rear pads can wear out before the front ones on the FL2. Slightly off topic but still relevant I hope. My son wants me to help replace the rear pads on his Porsche 911 after we found a small piece of brake pad material on the garage floor. We had a look and the rear pads are starting to delaminate at 15k miles 4.5 years old and very little wear. As you might imagine the front and rear brakes and discs are much bigger than those on a FL2 with 4 piston calipers and ventilated all round. A set of rear pads are about £150 on Eurocarparts, more from Porsche. My point is that brake pads seem to have a time as well as mileage limit and it's always worth keeping an eye on them. has anyone else noticed this sort of thing? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Yes I have, as per my earlier post in this thread. Seen de-lamination before too, but only on motorcycles after many years.

2013 cars with the electric parking brake do tend to wear faster than the front.

I have changed the rears myself and it is very easy to do.

Just put the electric brake into service mode and away you go.

I bought genuine LR pads from my local dealer for about £53.

My nearside rear brakes have a horrible graunching noise, came on last night, going to have discs fitted as well for the price, the EPB must certainly be a factor in the premature wear.
Not sure whether the pad has delaminated, the outer one appears intact, the mechanic will let me know when he's done them.
