Regular sized number plates

Does anyone have regular car sized number plates fitted to their FL2 ? I've stupidly just ordered them not realising the plates are larger than regular. Are they gonna look stupid ? Don't particularly wanna fork out for another set !

It's only the rear that is larger.

The car looks much better with the larger rear plate if you have a full length reg number.

I have a 4 digit plate, on a standard plate shortened to 300mm long, that looks quite good and a bit different.

Thanks , I didn't realise the front was regular size Thumbs Up

It's a full length Reg so I guess I'll see how it looks , not so bad now I only have to buy the rear if it doesn't look right.

I have a personalised plate, but the car came with a bog standard registration on a bog standard rear plate.

Looked perfectly fine.

IMHO the larger rear plates look a bit weird, irrespective of the length of the registration.....

Funnily enough just seen a Range Rover with a Regular sized private rear plate, it looked fine. Had I not known it was meant to be bigger I never would of known the difference.

That's not oversized. That's standard size for a FL2 rear plate. Look at the pictures of any car for sale on the used approved Landrover site. 'Normal' rear plates would be described as undersized!

FWIW I paid a little more for my plates from a main dealer as personally I think it looks better with the main dealer name/logo on them instead of having Mickey Mouse's discount car accessory shop Ltd printed on them!

My advice: Chuck 'em away and get a real set. Laughing

When you remove you plate you will see the rear recessed threaded plastic inserts.

Remove these and then fix the plate on with number plate pads. However attach the plate in the middle of the recess and it will look very good! I've seen a few with the plates simply lined up with the top recess and it looks really bad as all you see is the bottom recess. Cheers LR NUT. Are the fixing holes centre of the recess ? I.e could I just drill holes smack bang in the centre of the new plate so that it lines up perfectly in the middle of the recess. Not a fan of those sticky pads , last time I used them the plate came flying off on a dual carriageway !

Use decent double sided tape and they will never fall off!

I cannot recall from memory. I'm 99% sure the centre point of the threaded recess is in the middle. Looking at my picture prior to the car being registered it appears yes it will be the centre point.

I used to make number plates up all the time, legal, illegal Thumbs Up and showplates Thumbs Up and fit them on some cars. Signam is the best stuff to use. 6mm pad on the front and 1mm pad on the rear plate. 6mm on front as most car bumpers are curved and 1mm on rear as most are flat. When fitting always ensure you hands are clean no creams etc. White spirt the rear of the number plate and the area it will be getting attached to and it will last for years! Never had one customer come back and our Land Rovers in the family are all ok. Very Happy MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
