Australia 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Aintree Green

Why am I on here? - Curiousity!
Purchased last build MY15 and wanted to see if any issues hadn't been really addressed by LR and after 5 months ownership very very happy! Time will tell but very confident now familiarised with the FL2.
BTW, FL1 V6 owner for 13 years, not perfect but never let me down or failed to get me home! In fact generally and overall reliable product but the FL2 is a monumental leap forward. I hope all the computing power keep it's marbles Rolling with laughter Shocked
Also before purchasing FL2, looked at everything. Came down to a Tiguan R-Line or Freelander 2 - which I only drove to be sure! It was a no brainier, even riding on 19", the Land Rover was sooooo much better!
Very Very happy Freelander 2 owner!

I agreed with Stuart! I thought I'd never need a 4x4 until I wanted a car that can go up mountain tracks in Spain. In March we wanted to walk up the El Cielo near Nerja. We parked a rental car 3 Km in and walked on about 1 and 1/2 hours; we had lunch then carried on about 100 yards where we saw 3 Land Rovers parking near the "sendero", the starting of the foot-path. At that time we thought what a cheat, but from that point to the peak there is still 2 and 1/2 hours climb. So up then down would take 5 hours and add on 3 hours to where we park our car means a total of 8h; with a proper 4x4 we could have done it in 5-6 hours. There are other peaks we want to climb.

I have been driving various cars: Mini, Fiesta, 3x Citroen with hydrolic suspension! The car that gave me trouble free was the Golf GTI 170HP. I owned this over 7 years and only had to replace only 4 tyres + 1 set wipers. When I wanted a 4x4 I test drives a Tiguan, a Qashqai and Toyota Rav4. The Tiguan drive just like my golf, Qashqai felt under power and cheap looking interior, Rav4 isn't much different in interior and I am not keen on the Japanese car anyway.
I have decided on the Tiguan but after reading more about 4x4 vehicles the concensus overwhelmingly points toward the Freelander 2 and that why I bought my fl2. To be fair the Fl2 interior plastic doesn't look and feel like the Tiguan but I am pleased that I bought a car that is a proper 4x4.

Last Tuesday I went to Coniston in North Yorkshire for the 1/2 day Land Rover Experience. The car was a Fl2 HSE auto and I was amazed at the car ability. At time it was almost stood on its nose or its back end! Trevor, the instructor guided me through the tracks, each time with different scenario. I was so glad that I went for the LR experience even though it was over 120 miles to get there.
