So first tow today, just a few miles home from the storage compound. Felt effortless and very happy with the performance. Is there a towing mode selected by connecting the caravan electrics which cause the gearbox to change up at higher revs than solo?

I used to tow a Swift Challenger 625 twin axle, with a laden weight of 1845kg, & the Freelander towed it without any problems, even up into the highlands of Scotland, & far from causing traffic jams, I found I was often held up by dawdling holiday makers, sight seeing, chugging along at 40 mph, on a single carriageway with a national speed limit, so don't be quick to slate all caravaners as slow! |

Yep identical van. Had it from new in 2012. Very pleased with it still. Just the 4 of us as well, the extra space is great.

I found the FL2 to be very stable when towing (apart from exceptional good towing performance). Think it is the short distance from the tow hook to the rear axle of the car that makes the Freelander 2 so stable when towing rather heavy rigs. 2013 SD4 SE (hers)

reading about and seeing some of the larger outfits people on here tow with their Freelanders' I feel like I'm not even trying with my little (1400Kg max) van - does the larger van signify anything like driving a car with a long bonnet -
