next change will be a D4, I miss my D3 but my freelander 3.2 i6 is a terrific car, just a little bit too small for our needs - FL2 3.2 i6 - There is no Replacement for Displacement

After wasting a lot of time looking for information on the DS to make the best informed decision under the circumstance. Weighing up the DS and Freelander I preferred the current model. I do like the look of the DS but prefer the current shape. A petrol engine and white paint were my two priorities and I could not delay my decision much longer as it was mostly diesels and colours other than white that were available.

Landies should be different from lesser cars. This one appears very much the same as any other complex, fragile and expensive soft roader. Its not an SUV, they forgot the Utility bit. Instead of wasting money on image consultants who think up stupid names in re-branding exercises I would rather they employed some engineers to make it more durable, more reliable, easier to maintain, cheaper to run - the sort of qualities which the Landrover brand used to be associated with. Don't see much mention of those things in the DS blurb. Not sure what Discovery Sporting is all about that cannot be attained just as easiliy in an Beamer X3 or a Lexus RX or an XC90 or a VW Toerag.........

No, that's why I bought my Metropolis. LR are starting the BMW trick as too much is optional. To get 825W Meridian on a DS you need hard drive sat nav option too at £2500 Then old tatt engines which was the major no no for me. OK I have it in the Freelander but it was designed or the Freelander launch at the end of 2006 not for a brand new 2015 model!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Like I say it is accepted in a Freelander as that is the car it was designed for but not for a supposed all new vehicle like the DS. Problem is that if the new engines arrive a year or so after launch then I would assume the values of the early examples to drop fast. As much as I love/loved Rover/MG etc it seems some of the not so good ties to the old days are still there. On the plus side given the DS has the Freelander engine then this could well have a positive side for Freelander values as you aren't gong from an engine with fairly poor MPG to one that is (hopefully) much better. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red. (Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red. (Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding. (Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather. |
