Power Steering Leak

Hello ....Thank you for accepting me ..
I currently run a 2007 2.2 Diesel HSE Freelander 2 Auto . Ive had the problem with leaking power steering pipes . They had rusted where they join the rack . I have replaced them with new parts but its leaking at the joint where they clamp into the rack . I can't see any obvious reason why . Does anyone have any suggestions please . I would appreciate any help ...

Thank You

Hi Martin. I'm thinking of buying a FL2, to replace my recently deceased RR P38. It will be used, primarily for green laning around SW England, with trips further afield when time and work allow. I am looking at 2 MY2013 SD4's. One has 73K miles on, for £9995, the other has 140K miles on, for £8750. They both have good service history, and appear unbashed. The 140K is in white, which I prefer as a colour for the car, over the grey of the 73K. Would there be any good reasons to avoid the higher mileage, though cheaper, one? I know very little about the FL2, and i'm approaching the Freelander name with trepidation, having had bad times with a petrol hippo.

The Hippo 1.8 used a Rover car engine, which had head issues.

The FL2 was designed and built by Ford. For a short while Ford owned LR.
A whole new team was put together to do just that.

It always amazed me that the FL1 was so popular. It always seemed to cause trouble of some kind! It's good to hear that the FL2 is an improvement.

Hello!

As a former D3 owner... im thinking of coming back to the LR brand... but looking at the Freelander 2 instead of the D3... perceived better reliability of FL2.

Ideally automatic with heated seats - so will be on the hunt to see whats out there!

As far as I'm aware the SE models up have heated seats as standard Wink

Cool! Looks like SE, HSE and some XS models have them.

On HSE - does sunroof leaks happen as they do in the Disco? Happy to ask elsewhere 👍

Mine (2013 HSEL) has never leaked although I believe there have been instances of blocked or detached drainage tubes.

The high level brake light rubber seal is also known to perish and allow water to run down inside the tailgate and collect in the lock area - nothing dramatic and a new seal is an inexpensive, quick and easy fix.

Hi All,
I am a new member. I have a FL2. 2008.
I absolutely love it.
I previously had 2 Fl1’s that I broke.
And a much loved 1990 LR90 till about 8 years ago when it just needed too much spending on the chassis for me to afford, hence my diversion to FL.

Dean
