Just thought I'd say hi - I'm a first time Freelander 2 owner, internet shopping at it's finest tbh, Beej has been here nearly 3 weeks and I adore her! As I've just joined here, the registration process asked for the colour of the car - how do I find out what the name of the colour is? So many 'black' varieties to choose from - V5 just says 'black'
Oh and I've also realised that I do not know how to use forums correctly so if I've posted this incorrectly, I do apologise

Hello everyone.

Just sold my D3 and bought a Freelander 2 2010 2.2td4 HSE.

So shifted myself from the disco3.co.uk to over here.

No doubt I will be searching this forum over the next few days for things to fix, modify and spend money on.

after having a D3 you will probably have oodles of spare cash to play around with your new FL2

(I moved out of a D4 earlier this year that i spent a fortune on but it was worth every penny )

I think I spent as just much fixing the D3 during the 9 years I owned it than I paid for it.
Had all the usual D3 issues, suspension bushes, air suspension compressor, EGR valves, tailgate lock, failed glowplugs etc.
Hope the FL2 might be a bit more reliable but it is a LR after all so lets wait and see!

my D4 was great, had the belts done not long after getting it, upper rear suspension arms but they were only 'faults' i had. The rest was spent on modifying it and fuel.
Sadly lockdown meant i hardly did any miles in it, and i couldnt get to enjoy the mods i had done like the awning so add that to the crankshaft and manifold anxiety it made financial sense to move on.
So now im back in a FL2 and from my past experience of them, you get the usual curve balls (door/boot locks, EGR valve, throttle body but on a small number of cars) but on the whole very reliable.

Just get the haldex serviced asap, and the usual diff oils along with the timing belt if its near due

Hi all,
Just joined up here as we have just bought a FL2 for the other half to tow her horsebox around with. I’m pretty experienced with defenders (same username on Defender2 and “Mudmonkey” on LR4x4) but I’m brand new to the freelander. It’s already proved itself as a Land Rover product with the mudflaps falling off and rear wiper motor dying!

Just inherited my wife’s TD4 after 10yrs of dealer maintenance, now it’s my turn!
Going to be a steep learning curve - first job fix noises from a/c fan!!
Why do I always get the second car?

I can't think of many new cars I would rather have than a Freelander. We did buy it new and will keep it as long as possible as it's a great car. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
