England 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black
Just joined but could do with some advice

Hi everyone.
Just joined to get some advice for my missus. Little bit about me first. I used to own a Disco 3 and was using the disco3 forum to great success. Ended up selling the disco in the end once the kids came along as I needed to tighten my belt.
My father in law passed away in September and was using a Freelander2 and I am sure he was using the forum under the name scarecrow and I would be grateful to anyone if they can remember him. Probate has now happened and we have his car to sell but I am not sure if it's had any modifications. Maybe if any member can remember chatting with him about any mods it could steer me in the right direction so I can pass on the correct information.

Thanks

Mark

Hello folks,

Just joined from the FFRR site. The current FF is a 2005, 4.2 supercharged so I'm thinking of going for something a bit more frugal, and newer.

So I'm thinking a 2013/14 HSE Lux or Metropolis Auto. They seem well spec'd and very similar to the FF interior. It's pretty much SWMBO's car so familiarity will be a big positive. What are the differences between the Metropolis and the Lox. I can't see any obvious ones from AutoTrader pictures but maybe there are some. Both seem to have heated steering wheel which is very important. Side steps seem few and far between. Any particular reason for that? SWMBO is not very tall and may need steps but there appear to be many aftermarket options.

Anyone wanna buy a Full Fat Supercharged.

As far as I can see the Metropolis was just a change of badge for the HSE LUX' as a 'run out' model.

Link to messages containing Metropolis (nice spec for the FL2)

It appears to me that the interior trim changed for the worse on the Metro, they seem to have mixed the dark door cards and IP with light seats, they look odd to me, I prefer the HSE/Lux all one colour interiors (preferably light). Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

This is the interior of the FF

So I guess you'll know which interior we'll go for.

The all black interiors are indeed all black, but just try and find a Metro with an all light interior, only ones I have seen for sale have been the mix of black IP and Doors with cream seats. Regards

David

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Barolo Black

Hi everybody, I'm a first time l/r owner, series 2 gs td4 e, great car for an oldie who's getting stiffer by the day, love the height of it, ease of access was paramount for entry and exit. After my previous cars a big change but you have to move with the times. Ticks all the boxes for me but one niggle it has is fuel consumption, my wife had an old 06 td4, she loved it and it pulled the caravan with ease, it was quite efficient fuel wise when no van was attatched, it would manage between 38-42 mpg, even towing a big van it would return about 27mpg, mine isn't a patch on her td4, 29 -31 on most days is all I get out of it, a bit of a shock when I was expecting something similar to my wife's previous car.

Having only owned this car for about 6 month, I have experienced 2 breakdowns, first one 30/12/19, on my way home after work, my car just died on me on the busy M6, no warning, a bit of a jolt and a panic to get onto the hard shoulder, 6 days off the road, finally get it into a garage, told it was the light pressure pump, given a price and car was fixed, or so I thought, got it back yesterday, 7/1/2020, wasn't full of confidence as it had an issue starting as it had done in the past, used it today, made 3 stops at various locations and every restart filled me with dread, I get home which I thought would be an impossibility, phoned the garage I used earlier in the week, told to drop it off so they could have a look into the issue, half a mile from my home the car breaks down, no chance of starting this pig of a vehicle, have you ever pushed one of these beasts without powersteering, the only notice I had something was amiss was a little cough/splutter before a total halt in traffic.

I'm at a bit of a loss, has anybody else had an issue with the light pressure pump being repaired/replaced and the fix only lasting a day or so before packing up, not ideal when the hrs I work are awkward and the need for a reliable vehicle is paramount.

Apologies for going on but I thought the more I offered up the better chance I have of some help.

Many thanks in advance.

Back & forth on our garage floor to add toys. 2 tonnes of car is difficult to move. Previous car was 1 tonne, so much easier! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks for your reply, I did query the main fuel pump but be assured me it was a pump of some description, it's back in the garage so I'll wait bated breath as to see what comes of today's inspection by the garage.
