England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Hi Everyone! Part ex'd my FL1 yesterday for a FL2 SD4 auto in uber shiny Santorini Black from the local dealer - what an amazing difference she is to my previous one which was used and abused by myself and five dogs! Already wearing some local mud - had to say hello to a field and a green lane on the way home! Thumbs Up

England 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Hi all

I've read a lot of the site and it seems as mad as the Omega Owners Forum (oof) of which I am also a member, so thought I better sign on here.

Bought a 2007 FL2 HSE i6 Auto, 67,000 on the clock, about a month ago for my wife.
This was a replacement for her Discover1 V8i 150,000 miles on the clock. This member of
the family unfortunately died of brown dust disease. Engine & mechanics still good, so might still get it looked at.

I've been driving quite a few years now, started off with an Austin 7 Ruby so gives some idea of how long.
Must say that the Freelander 2 is probably the nicest car I have ever driven, very impressed and so is my wife.

Picked it up and drove home about 300 miles and it just felt like a drive around to the shops.

I have a 2001 Omega facelift 2.6 V6, 55,000 on the clock when I bought it a year ago, so used to the quirks of an older car.
Quite surprised to find the FR2 with the i6 3.2 has a slightly better fuel consumption than the 2.6 V6 Omega Thumbs Up

Anything I should be expecting to happen, or to look at on the FR2 at this age with 67,000 miles on the clock. All running like clockwork at the moment.

On the Omega Forum several members offer their services to assist with repairs. Is this also available on this forum?

Ian

New Zealand 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Indus Silver

Hi all

And thank you for the welcome
Just bought an 2009 @ 25,000km LR2 (like this term ) some 40 years after the last LR 11A with Rover engine not a good one, ended up with 216 Holden in it brought it to life.
The Freelander seams a bit better but missing any service info hand or /service book.
Have it covered by Autosure extreme cover (only disappointment) its not covered for off road use, Censored
Insurers state it is to be serviced as per manufactures recommendations.
Local agents have ordered a service book from the UK but is there anything I can down load , tried a few sites and managed the Owners Handbook (if it could be called that, no info on even chaging a wheel)

Any suggestions on where to locate service spare parts and basic hand book would be much appreciated.

Yes its an Alvis

Cheers
John :

Hi John

Have you looked at Topix? Basic registration is free and will give you access to some information about your car (requires VIN) and a range of owner material. Other material is then available on a 'time paid for' basis.

Thanks HappyNomad,

Will give it a go but LR2 came from Japan and is now in NZ and the new owner is computer illiterate.
Big Cry
Tried posting a photo but didn't work, is there a learners site?

Still prefer paper copies.

Cheers
John

Hi Rossco,

Only had our 3.2L Auto LR2 for three weeks but what a pleasure to drive.
Sorry cant help you with anything technical we went for a low mileage (25K) and its like new.
After downloading a Freelander Manual I feel a bit happier having reversed into a hidden post not knowing the side rear sensors only sound at very close distance. Rear sensors are fine and sound at around a 4feet.

But it has no information regarding mileage or time periods between servicing.

John
