I'm Steve, currently looking to return to the LR fold, had a Disco back in the mid 90s. Then During my Mid Life Crisis, I've owned a couple of BMWs and even a Porsche Cayman S (great car that was!). I currently have a Honda CR-V, back to reality with a bump! To be honest the CR-V is an honest car that does everything very well but not very interesting or exciting to own.

I had considered the FL2 when I bought the Honda in 2007, it was probably only the reliability stigma from the early FL1 days that prevented me from even test driving one - they should have dropped the Freelander name IMO. Anyway here I am, great forum by the way and you seem like a friendly bunch too. Currently ploughing through the posts and picking up lots of useful info

Welcome aboard!! I too left the LR fold in the 90's - I had the FL1 - well for 18 months anyway.Just had to let it go as it was so unreliable. For the last 4 years I was running a RAV4 - brilliant car - no problems whatsoever. But like you there was no excitement - just a very honest car. Picking up a new FL2 XS on Saturday - Can't wait

welcome steve i had a rav4 untill last march good car changed for a merc but never got off the drive in the snow new fl2 is being built as we type or so the dealer just said so should come home in a couple of weeks

Welcome Steve, I'm a newbie myself, There seems to be 2 separate forums in one here, one with the useful info you mention and another with about 6 "characters" wheeling the same private joke out time after time

You'll find alot of usefull info on this site and I'm sure that if you ask a specific question then you will get a legitimate answer for it.

You will also notice that we also like to have a laugh & joke now and again because if we didn't this site would soon become extremely boring.

There are a handfull of us that have a dig at each other......you are more than welcome to join in.

Hi all,

Due for delivery of a brand new fl2 GS in stornway grey with privacy glass and winter pack in around 4 weeks after finally part exchanging my FL1 after having the car for 7 years from new.

Boy, is there a difference between the two. The fl2 is just so much nicer to drive and has much more features than the fl1 and I cant wait to pick up when its built as it was a dream to test drive

I've been on the forum for a guest for a couple of weeks and it's been invaluable in helping me to find out more information about the car which isn't in any brochure or manual I have seen and I'm looking forward to posting more in the future.
