Thanks for your reply. A Metallic sort of noise. I thought maybe a water pump failing or something. There is no smoke from exhaust so I'm thinking it's not turbo related. There is no loss of water. |

Thanks Npinks, I'll have a look at that. It's definitely a metallic sort of sound. |

Auxiliary belt tensioner is another possibility. Makes a sound a bit like a dying steering pump, only worse. Dealer said they had never heard a noise like it before. It was NOT covered on the LR extended warranty .

Could it be a driveshaft rubbing on a heat shield or other bit of metal as a result of the engine moving on its mountings due to the load on the engine? Worn engine mountings could result in reduced clearances. Does it relate to engine speed or road speed? |

I took my vehicle into my Tech mate and he found the split turbo hose in about 2 minutes! Apparently it seems to be a complete hose assembly (LR002589) but it's just the short hose at the top end of the of the intercooler to turbo hose. It's about £63 Plus VAT. I'm not sure if the short hose is available seperately. Thanks to all for the advice. |

The pipe turned out to be a complete assembly as suspected. Fitting was not as straight forward as I had hoped. There are 3 sections of pipe and I replaced the top two only. In order to get to the support clip and fixing on the lower hose the whole front bumper needs to be removed. As it looked a bit like heavy rain was approaching, it was easier to separate the assembly and leave the bottom hose in place.
