Must admit I assumed the M/S stood for manual/ sport not two different modes, I cant really see why it needs the sport with the capabilities of Command Shift. One does have to remember to drop to drive using the peage when towing, as there is a sudden realisation the an error was made when finding oneself at max revs in second gear on leaving the gate and attempting to extricate oneself from between two converging artics. Have been playing with modes a bit, if you really want to see it shift put it in sand mode as well. Just don't look at the MPG.

To be honest on most roads it's fast enough in D that I don't bother with sport, and am only likely to use command shift on steep hills or off-road. 2011 MY SD4 HSE + planning some interesting stuff

As above, but put mine into Sport Mode Shocked I'd D it flys, as for looking at the mpg, I don't in D, so no way would I look when in Sport. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Well I'm in the camp of only tending to use Sport mode on rural open roads as the changes both up and down seem so much better timed and more intuitive. Very occasionally in urban areas if it's that sort of traffic.

Interesting what taz has to say about motorway journeys and fuel consumption. Will have to try it and take note. In D it very rarely shifts out of 6th for me on motorway, only if I give it a fair shove or it's on an up-slope. If that's right about fuel consumption can imagine it won't be out of S all that much from now on.

Not a fan of command shift unless off road/snow to be honest. Even then D or S usually works fine.
