Cheers fro the information.

A couple of other questions:

Did you consider replacing the hand brake pads/shoes as well
Did you need to bleed the brakes after fitting
Did you use any copper lubrication anywhere.

If I do it I don't want to have it all in bits and think 'S**t I've forgetten something'

Sure I remember Mav saying he used copper grease on the back of the pads?
If your not opening the bleed nipples or taking the calliper off then there won't be a need to bleed the brakes.
I need to do my brakes all round too.. So am gonna get a set if these as well. I'll also be changing the handbrake shoes aswell so it's minty fresh all round

Does anybody know if your insurer has to be informed if you fit drilled/vented discs? I know all insurers are different with their small print and what is/isn't to be notified of regarding modifications. Obviously they don't come off the line with these fitted as standard so in the event of a claim, would the insurance assessor have a problem with them and possibly invalidate the policy?

Obviously they do nothing for performance (acceleration etc) but I would have thought in terms of actual safety and braking performance they would be regarded as a benefit? MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

Technically if you do not fit the genuine discs or pads I suppose that is a modification, same with tyres, if it comes with Continentals do you class the fitting of Good Years a modification. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Where does it stop. Changing your bulbs even if they are legal ones, putting tints on the rear windows etc etc.

Precisely, most of the budget ones want you to call them, and charge you £25 or more for the pleasure. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

I havent told my insurance as they are standard size discs. When I the claim for my door, the engineer didn't even comment on the 20" wheels or anything that I have done.

Now don't get me wrong, my insurance know all about the mods on my car but it just goes to show that they don't always take any notice.

As mentioned above, in theory if you fit non genuine discs, your not sticking with original parts.

The questions have been answered. But i did blead the brakes as I took the calipers off to paint them. But normally you don't need to.

Copper slip was used. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Cheers for the info Mav.

Do you have a link to the TRW pads. I note some have wear indicators and some don't.

Do you also have instructions on bleeding.

Oh and also the correct pads for the hand brake, might as well replace them whilst I'm at it.

I don't ask for much now do I.

No Pads for the Handbrake, they are Shoes, they shouldn't really wear unless you pull the handbrake before you come to a stop, checking the adjusters and pivots is critical as they tend to seize up. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Considering mine handbrake shoes are nearly 7 years old, they were hardly worn, so I didn't bother hanging them.

I have an easy bleed kit for the brake bleeding, so it is not a hard job. If you haven't got one of these kits, you will need someone to pump the brakes. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
