Phonebook on head unit

I have recently changed my phone to an HTC Desire S and while it pairs no problem and I can make and receive calls except I cannot access the phonebook even after it shows that it is copying from the phone. When I try to delete what is already on the head unit there is a padlock sign that does not allow me to delete. Am I missing the obvious or does this have to go into the dealers to unlock this option. Any info would be great help as I can only make calls by typing in the phone number instead of going through the phonebook. Confused

It might be down to whether your phonebook is on the phone memory or simcard. Changing from one to the other solved a similar problem I had but on a different phone. Also worth checking your phone is fully compatible with the system in the car.

I can confirm the HTC Desire S is fully compatible, I had this phone up until last May and it worked faultlessly including the phonebook so looks to be a setting you may have missed.

Perhaps as your car is a 2007 model you have not had the software updates to include the HTC phone fully Idea

The padlock usually shows itself when the car thinks you are 'fiddling' and it's not safe to do so, make sure only ignition is on and engine not running then try again.

I have tried all the suggestion but still no joy.It looks like it will have to be a trip to the dealers to get a software update or just continue to use the keypad which is not very handy. Thanks anyway for the advice.

I had a similar problem with my car showing padlocks so i couldn't update/delete certain phone settings. I ended up having to buy a new Bluetooth module for mine Sad The BEST looking half of the famous Twinlanders Ner Ner
