How can two dealers be so differant??

With our FL1 we had a dreadful experience with Lookers in Chelmsford - too painfull to relive. Anyhow, I squared it by buying our new FL2 elsewhere and saved a substantial amount.
So here we are a year later and first service is due. As Lookers are my closest dealer and I know not to believe them when they tell me my brakes are shot, my aircon needs a service and my tyre treads at 4mm need replacing I reluctantly made the call. First alarm bell is they can only be contacted by dialling a penny pinching premium number. Second alarm bell sounds when they tell me the 'fixed' price for a first service is 」475 inc. VAT. Under pressure they will do a special one off for 」450.
One quick (normal tarriff) call to Statstone Hainault produced an immediate quote without need for negotiation of 」320 inc. Vat. They have attentive staff, a hotel like reception, tell no lies and clean and service the car perfectly. No sneaky add ons.
How can Lookers be 48% more expensive when the product is the same? Why can't LR monitor the consistency and performance of their dealers. What is the point in filling in the LR customer satisfaction survey on completion? 2012 GS Converted-

I'm confused as well. Admittedly I only called the parts department in both those dealershps but my experience was the polar opposite! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

According to Stratstones website, a first year service in Bucks, Berks, Essex, Warwickshire and East London is fixed at 」343 all in.

Lookers (part of Taggarts, I believe) are taking the proverbial. This is the same garage (Chelmsford) that valued my FL2 HSE at 」27k when it was 2 weeks old, having paid 」35k all up including rebates. Now, I don't claim to be an expert in used car values, but bottom book at the time was 」32k.....so I very politely declined to continue talking to them and suggested that they Foxtrot Oscar from hereon in. A stance that I maintain, incidentally! Foraging near Gaydon....

After shopping around for prices I found differing prices as well for my fith service I was quoted 」500 from Marshals Melton Mowbray tis price included some kind of addative to make the engine last longer? Sturgess Leicester wanted 」440 Stratstone Nottingham wanted 」250 including a loner for the day they provided faultless service and more to the point did not find anything else that needed expensive attention.

Taggarts are part of Lookers, and I don't think Taggarts are this bad ?

Even different branches of the same Dealer Group can be markedly different in terms of both pricing and levels of Service.

I went to Lookers Chelmsford for a service quote and they quoted silly money. When I questioned it they offered to knock 」60 off. Surely that is taking advantage. I went to DS Automotive in Rayleigh and would recommend them. They are LR trained, use OE parts and have all diagnostics etc. They have a website you can go on and let you see the facilities before booking. They will collect and deliver to Chelmsford and charged around 」270 for 1st service.

Whenever I have my FL2 serviced at the LR dealers, around 2 weeks afterwards I get a questionaire come through from LR asking me to tell them what I thought of the service, might be good to put all your comments on one and let them know about it?

Only trouble is if there are any software updates the indy won't be able to do them nor can he do any warranty work or any recalls that the LR Dealer will do when it's in for a service..

Yes, nothing stopping you from using an Indy, but if you need warranty work etc done, don't expect that little extra from the dealer. Loyalty has worked wonders for many on here.

The above means I am not alone on this forum with my thoughts of Lookers Chelmsford. My friends and colleagues have had the similar experinces. So what is the point in waisting time responding negatively when LR contact you after servicing?
I feel as long as they keep shifting metal LR are not interested on the customer feedback. It's just as well we have forums like this or I would have to suffer in silence.
I will never reconcile how they can be, quote for quote, same product (first service) 48% more expensive than Stratstone. Yet in our previous experience, not have the vehicle ready when promised, lie about unnecessary work required, forget to carry out an MOT (because it is subbed to Mercedes over the road), and most irritatingly of all place a 'complemenary' top container of oil on the passenger seat that works out litre for litre more expensive than Remy Martin added to your bill that was never asked for. 2012 GS Converted-
