Its not a feature mine has but the idea of it never appealed to me,like you say i think there will be more wear and tear on certain parts and mines diesel i just like the idea of the oil circulating round the engine not draining then pumping round again. |

I always use it, saves me a fortune when travelling on the m25 most weeks. Some people on this forum claim its a rubbish system but they probably don't get the most out of it. |

Only 17000 miles, no issues related to stop start system. There is a thread on here somewhere that details all the modifications to enable the stop/start system to be reliable. From what I remember its quite a comprehensive system. |

25000 miles and use stop/start all the time. Not had any issues with it failing to restart and no delays restarting.

Never turned mine off, only 5000 miles so far but no problems, one feature i have found is that if you inadvertently stall the car , then pressing the clutch pedal restarts it, could be useful off road |

24000 miles, 30 months old and no problems so far! I tend to turn it off when I'm in heavy "stop start" traffic or when I'm only doing a short journey with lots of traffic lights, but at all other times it's switched on and works fine.

Can anyone who uses the system give an honest estimate of how much fuel they think they have saved, per x000 miles for example.

AIUI the stop/start brings the car into a lower road tax bracket, so your tax disc costs less. I wouldn't be surprised of that saves you more than the actual fuel saving, and if that wasn't really what drove its introduction!

While I can't answer the question directly. I can give you a few comparisons between a TD4 with stop start and a TD4 pre stop start.

Having stop start will help you sell it though if you ever wanted to part with your landy. I would,nt worry about the reliability of the stop start, the clutch will probably fail way before anything else. |
