My 2011 model has started to develop a little cough when accelerating. It doesnt feel like anything major, just a little stutter, so I was just going to get the dealer to look at it when it goes in for a service in a month or so.

I see that Wynns do a product that claims to clean out the EGR valve. Has anyone tried it? |

Pretty hard to do... The EGR is a system that connects the intake with the exhaust. To reach the EGR valve, because of the gas flow, there is no other way than through the exhaust. So that product, should go from tank through high pressure pump, burning inside cylinder and reach exhaust unaffected in order to do its job of cleaning the EGR. What can be? Probably some solvent... In this case, quite difficult to not be affected by the burning / detonation inside cylinder... Or I may be wrong and maybe they found out some miraculous way of cleaning the EGR, other than the traditional way of taking the EGR off and clean it manually ?!.... |

I haven`t looked it up but I think you raise the engine RPM up to around 2000 / 2500 and then squirt the stuff through the air intake. I think you have to remove the air filter from its housing first.

So the product is added to the air stream not through the fuel stream.
