It is reasonable to feel slightly annoyed when.....

....a near neighbour has just arrived home in a brand spanking new Kia Sanatogen Fate (Happy Shopper Land Rover). In country that builds genuine Land Rovers. Big Cry

I don't know what's worse! The waste of hard earned foreign exchange or the hideous eyesore that I have to drive past twice a day!! Could be worse, at least it isn't grey as well Laughing

Time for some medication, I think Rolling Eyes

Good point.

Perhaps if they were to be a bit more thoughtful and cover it up with some old sackcloth or, possibly, 8 tonnes of topsoil it might be a bit more acceptable....

Nice idea but no, it's not as good looking and desirable as a skip, so it has to be a Kia!

You're right. I'll get Interflora to drop by some flowers and a commiserations card. It should make them feel better that others are thinking of them at this very sad time Wink

he's probably been tempted by the 7 year warranty, long term reliability, value for money package. etc

and obviously isn't a badge snob to boot !!

I wonder if he is able to make a successful claim under the warranty for it looking like something that Datsun or Toyota might have designed around 1974? Rolling Eyes

Oddly enough, KIA don't mention (unless pushed) that it's limited to 100,000 miles, with a list of exclusions that grows longer as time goes by. Extended warranties like this aren't a reflection of the manufacturer's belief in the product, they are simply priced in to the manufacturer's cost of sale. No one would say that Vauxhall produces the best made cars in the world, yet they are able to provide a warranty that's valid, not for just 7 years, but as long as you keep the car (though, oddly enough, their confidence disappears at 100,000 miles too!)

Mind you, all this turns out to be irrelevant, because it actually turns out to be a Hyundai after all!! Laughing Apparently, there's a difference Shocked

When I decided to change the car I made up a short list of "possibles" and went to "Available Car" to check some out as they had a good range at Donington. The Kia was on my list until I walked round it, sat in it, walked round it again then walked away. Ditto the Xtrail, C Crosser, Sonata, etc. The Freelander was a definite "possible" but thought to be a bit pricy as was an E class estate. Eventually I found one to suit me and my budget - not at Available I might add... 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Working for the Koreans I can echo what Trigger said regarding the warranty, it is practically worthless and purely marketing hype.

There are Five in our office who drive cars, four Koreans and myself, two Freelanders, two 5 series and a 3 Series Rolling Eyes the BM's they call Bee Em Double OO's they cant do "W's" which is strange as one car becomes a Freewander Laughing

Get a Buy British sticker Tigger and put it on his car Whistle
