I didnt connect to the starter motor as this threaded hole on top of the autobox seemed perfect for an additional earth cable.

I replaced mine and bought it from Duckworth. The part number does vary so I provided my VIN number and had no issues.

Suggest you try this...

Lock car on fob then hold lock and unlock buttons for 3 seconds. Indicators will flash and you now have one press total access.
