Ah- thanks for that. That is the claim-that the bearing is worn and causing the slave cylinder to vibrate? But even if vibrating wouldnt the piston and cylinder remain intact?

I have connected the missing wire from the bulb to fuse 17 in the passenger footwell and all is well - light works fine. Tricky part is getting the feed over to the drivers side!
