United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Zermatt Silver

They advised that I change the flywheel almost as a bit of housekeeping while the box was out, but didn't mention that there was danger of consequential damage?
However, I still fail to see how it was so worn and didn't manifest as a knock or vibration when I was driving?

Going down to see for myself later, with the RAC of course!! Zermatt '57 Silver Freelander 2 GS -

Well- been to see the car, and quite frankly it's difficult to argue with their diagnosis. The combined release bearing/slave cylinder is indeed in contact with the flywheel, and the flywheel is in a terrible state, wobbles 10mm either way ! Surprised there hasn't been more damage really.
Notwithstanding that, I should have been better informed, and the garage accepted that, so after a bit of to and fro we have agreed to half the bill. I guess that's relatively fair as the flywheel is a 'wear and tear' part? Zermatt '57 Silver Freelander 2 GS -

I think thats fair providing they don't inflate the bill to cover their losses Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Just found this thread searching for info as my clutch has just failed... a thousand miles from home too, centre of Warsaw.. Its in bits in a friends garage now and I can see its the slave cylinder thats failed due to wear in the DMF.. up until failure there was no hint of problems at all, in fact Ive just crossed Europe and was well pleased with how it was running.. Oh well, parts here tomorrow.. Not a huge job to do with a modest workshop.. Martin, (G0JCN)
