Hi MM sorry to hear your still having problems, hopefully between TVLR and LR your problems will be sorted, can understand the Frustration as it’s a new car, however juts remember you’re not driving around in a bright red C1 Laughing , mind you not sure about a purple Disco 4 either

Just an update. I've owned Lloyd 44days and have had courtesy vehicle for 19 days.
He's still at TVLR who have him in bits trying to find out what on earth the faults are.
I am MAJORLY unhappy that I'm not driving my lovely new shiny FL2, and that it's not right.
I must say though TVLR have been excellent as have Lloyd Carlisle. That's all I can say for now.

2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e S Manual Stornoway Grey

MightyMildred - Our 10MY manual 'twangs' on moving off after first start and has done from day one. Tried another new one at the dealers and it did the same. Conclusion: normal behaviour and haven't worried about it since.

Okay,
I'm soooooo outta my depth! My08 didn't do any of these things. I just don't understand about the twang cos not every car does this (drive my neighbours my11 nearly identical to Lloyd)? Also if it was normal then why would TVLR go to the bother if taking Lloyd to pieces- they would just say to me 'hey this is normal' or 'a feature of the car'- like the turbo whirr???
If it is normal then I wish I still had mildred! She didn't twitch, twang or whirr!
I just don't understand- even the guy from LR assist was worried- cos the twang was felt through the clutch.

If I were in your shoes i would be taking counsel regarding rejecting the vehicle. The longer this goes on the seeds of doubt regarding the viability of Lloyd will start to germinate. It is only an inanimate object (sorry) and you must become dispassionate about it.

Reject it and start again.

I think you should let Lloyd take a bit of a back seat and concentrate on your own well being Shocked
I think a rehab clinic for the 'driven round the bend' vehicle owner syndrome is needed here, hopefully you will re-appear a sane person again after driving one of the clinics Morris Minor 1000 cars. Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Hi MM

I can confirm, having been in a similar position, that you will never trust Lloyd 100% and will always be waiting for the next issue to come up. Take Tenets advice . Look at rejecting your freelie and start again.
The longer you persist the harder it will be both to let go and to give him back.

You have given them lots of chances to sort this out - hand it back! Lloyd is no longer your friend!

Hi,
thanks for everyone's replies.
Yeah I think I am going mad!
Yesterday some Censored Smashed into the back of the disco4 smashing the lights/bumper/wing. I'm so mad cos this only happened cos I had to go back to the house to pick some gear up for a caesarean (which I would have had with me had I not had the rental car!!!) I'm so angry because the Censored Just drove off without leaving any details! Now Im £500 out of pocket for the insurance excess.

Mine does it too. I believe it happens in conjunction with the doors self-locking. I can also feel it in the gas pedal (I have an automatic/petrol HSE Sport LTD Edition).

Hi zoey,
my twang isn't associated with auto door lock-we disabled that to check.
If all these twitchies and twangs are a feature of the new model then land rover have the my11 sadly wrong. I expect to drive off without twangs under the floor and without a twitchy gear stick. I've paid a fair bit of money for this vehicle. It should be perfect. Afterall my08 was completely fine!
Or am I some perfectionist freak? I dunno!!!
Yawn

Picked Lloyd up tonight. He's had new gearbox mountings etcetc and extensive road testing AND...... Drum roll..... IS.... NO different!!!!!!!!!!!!
So we still have twitchy gear stick AND twang when moving off. TVLR have had him to bits twice now and can't find anything mechanical wrong at all. So they are getting a new FL2 in to compare directly too. I currently have Lloyd back but I'm really sad, my shiney new car that I was all excited about has seemingly wasted a lot of peoples time and money. I'm very dissapointed.

Would just like to add TVLR have been amazing! They've tried incredibly hard to help Lloyd but it could be that we are dealing with 'characteristics of the car'...

Sorry to hear it’s the same after all the work that’s gone in to it by TVLR, if the FL2 they get to compare it with drives differently will you be rejecting the car.
Seems easy to say but don’t be put off LR most of the FL2 seem to be pretty reliable unfortunately you seem to have a problem one. If it can be fixed I’m sure the chaps at TVLR will give it their best shot
