there will be atleast one small child in the car most of the time so leather would be easier to clean

Are you talking about adding leather to a GS when buying new, or adding leather to an existing car?

Hang on a mo - just checking my facts first...

I had leather seats in my Fiesta ST and I don't miss it. Unless buying luxury motors with Air con seats, give me cloth anyday. Plus even on the coldest of winter mornings cloth does not need heated seats I have found. I only have to sit down for less than a minute and the seat is fine. Leather was handy for wiping things up as you say CG but has to be maintained of course. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Hey, when I ordered my Freelander about 6 weeks ago the configurator wouldn't allow me to specify leather on a GS and I had to order an XS instead! Oh !!

Anyway, the single most important extra to me on any vehicle has to be leather. I'd hate to move back to cloth again, the leather is so practical and classy. One thing that's worth trying is to go out to your current car and hit the seat squab really hard with something like the back of an old fashioned wooden hand brush; you'll be amazed by how much dust and crap that the seat will spit back from the cushion into the air - never a problem with leather. So much healthier.

The leather on face lift Freelanders is pretty good quality too, though it suffers from the usual skin flint problem of being vinyl on the sides and seat backs

Although £1,840 does seem steep, it does include electric adjustment too, which is good if only to get stepless seat adjustment (ever felt that you seat position is either too far forward, or too far back and never quite right? In addition, if resale is important to you, aftermarket leather is likely to be a very real problem to any dealer looking to make a trade in offer in future as it will be so hard to value.

I'd bite the bullet and order the OEM stuff.

I am going back to cloth with my GS, leather is damn cold in winter and sweaty in summer, unless thats just my fat arse

GS with winter pack, heated seats so best of both worlds and xenon lights should be better than the halogens which get poor reviews, projector style were designed for xenon and halogen a better with a standard reflector.
The C Class I have has halogen projectors and at 70 on an unlit motorway its a little hairy at times, although the extreme vision halogens have improved things.

Firenze Red, Available from May 1st, I am led to believe, dealer is happy to take deposit in a couple of weeks and hasn't said otherwise, dont need car till September so plenty of time. It's an Evoque colour so maybe LR want it out on that model first, although FR LE sports have the red colour.

Its a great colour although needs the sun on it to do it justice, it looks non-metallic otherwise?

So, in the space of one single thread, I've just learned that I didn't need to order the XS after all and I could probably have ordered a Firenza Red one in time for delivery on the 1/7/11 as well You've got to laugh!

probably not to late to change the colour atleast, ask your dealer, if you really want red that is At work

Thanks for the suggestion but, when I added dark glass a little over a month ago, they told me that I only had about another 3 or 4 days to make any changes. I'd love the red, but I'm still pretty happy with Kosrae Green

Absolutely agree. I know the advantages of leather from the fiesta ST I used to own but there are downsides too. I like the idea of these luxury motors with air con seats but I would certainly not pay the extra. Cloth FTW  LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
