Trick to getting the cargo area light to come on???

Is there a trick to getting the light in wall of the cargo area to come on?

I'm assuming it should illuminate when I have the back hatch open, but no luck...

Thanks,
Michael

have you tried waving a black & white stick at it whilst saying PIFF PAFF PUFF.

If that doesn't work, check the bulb, check its connected and if that fails a sharp tap, and a trip to the dealers

Light should come on anytime hatch is open, there are no other switches. However don't build your hopes about the light, it is pathetic little light when it does work and is in completely the wrong position, mounted at the side as it is. It should be mounted in the roof lining shining down so as to illuminate the entire luggage space. My car is an office on wheels, I use the hatch a lot and carry a lot of crap, this time of year now we're on minimal daylight it is a real frustration.

Solved...

I got off my lazy a_s and decided to check the bulb..

Bulb looks just fine...

Hmm, wait a second.. No wires (I mean _nothing_ connected)...

Fished back into the wall of the car with my finger, hooked up the wires and then there was light

Thx.

in another of my brainstorming ideas

Would it not be possible to rig up a white neon light (Type the younger lot put under their cars) to the boot light, attaching it to the headliner or parcel shelf cover.

Then whenever your boot light comes on your neon light comes on too.

Obviously more expensive than the B&Q option but would give a better light

Hi GS69,

I've seen Carl's car in the flesh so I know what he has done, it is really effective. I'm going to try a similar idea though I want to mount the lights on the underside of the luggage cover. I've been holding off because of problems with my luggage cover - it fell to pieces a few weeks ago, I got it back together and sort of working (held together with duck-tape) awaiting the arrival of a new cover. Talking of which, surprise, surprise the new cover was fitted today while the car was back with the dealer for other problems.

It is a bit of a shame that we're talking about work arounds for something as basic as a boot light don't you think ?

Thumbs Up

It's just a shame that our £25-30k motors are lacking in this

Hi avtur

Forgot you met carlfraz (recovered yet ? Laughing ) you are right ,when you spend that amount of money you would hope they would have payed a little more attention to detail. The rear light is a pain also i find the instrument lighting is not quite bright enough so you can only adjust it from just about OK to non existent ! spare wheel is full size but only suitable for use as a spare ......hopefully they will learn that these annoying oversights and the seemingly endless electrical niggles/faults should not be part of the LR experience Rolling Eyes ....we live in hope.
