Just had my first 12,000km service at Lance Dixon Landrover in Melbourne. Cost $450. The chap said that's cheap compared to Q5 which would cost $1100 for first service. Not sure if it's true. |

Just got my second service done. Was at 22,000kms-24mths, but service indicator didn't apear yet. I called dealer and they said it was time for service. Cost $750, only extras done was wheel rotation and balance. For next service I'm just going to wait for service indicator to appear. I don't think every 6 months is necessary, not if you only drive occassionally. |

I have 91,000 kms on the clock and still the original brake pads. Not bad really. |

I had a 48k service for my I6 HSE by the main dealer here in Perth last week. It cost $788. They said that I also need new brake pads and said they were approx. $350 fitted. They didn't change the wiper blades but did replace the air filter and pollen filter.
For warranty purposes it has to be serviced every 6 months. |

Hi Aiiex, This is what found out last year and had confirmed by Land Rover Australia. The change in service interval for the i6 applies to all Freelander 2 petrol models and is purely down to the type of oil used. As they say, this must be Castrol SLX Professional Fuel Saver - if that is used then a 24000k/Annual service is approved for all years of the Freelander 2. Whether your dealer uses this oil or whether you will have to provide it is the next step! Hope this helps. |

Hi AiiEEX, When I was following this up last year, the Castrol SLX Professional Fuel Saver oil was $345 for 20 litres, the minimum 'pack size' I could locate; this was via my local (reasonably!) Reliance Petroleum depot in Traralgon. Against normal oil and filter cost changed every 12000kms,, as opposed to 24000kms, it was cheaper. However, if you cut out the extra costs of the 12000kms service, it would work out a lot cheaper. On the other hand, your dealer isn't checking such things as brake wear etc. except on a yearly basis.

Bet the van doesn't pull up within a bulls roar of the FL2. I've seen countless other Euro car owners who have have to change brake pads and rotors at 25-30,000klms, BMW's, Volvo's, Audi's and the list goes on and on. |
