Generally 2mm is the minimum but it varies on softness/hardness and usage, I would say you would be OK and you would know by the grating noise when there's nowt left. |

Depends upon how heavy footed you are, my last pads last over 80000 miles so that about 10000 miles per mm on that basis. I was only wrong once and thats when I thought I was but wasnt. 2010 Freelander 2 XS Stornaway Grey 2010 Aston DBS Morning Frost 2010 Bentley Continental Brooklands Green |

Slightly off topic, when mine was serviced in December the dealer said I have about 4mm left as well but I would know when they needed changing as there is a warning light on the dashboard - is that right ?? |

Much better i think to have a visual inspection from time to time. It's easy to do. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice. |

I was told exactly the same as Radar-UK by my servicing garage, I also wondered if the warning light was correct and if it is actually reliable?

As mentioned on here before, depends on how hard you use the brakes. Normally an auto gearbox wears the friction linings quicker due to little engine braking.

NO there is no brake pad wear sensors fitted so no light will come on to tel you that they need changing, visual inspection is needed |

Indeed superspark, no warning lights. The pads on right left (back) wore out and started to make a faint scratching noise. That's how I knew that my pads was due for a replacement.

I have commented before that it was my REAR pads that needed replacing at 18k, and not FRONT as I would have thought... Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
