Went out without money once and ended up out of town and struggling to find a petrol station.

That's not planning, it's belt and braces playing safe because you haven't planned. Planning is ensuring that you have access to fuel at the right price when you need it. |

About a year ago, I had an hour journey on the motorway to go home. Before departing I had 1/4 tank, range was showing enough miles to get home. Dont know what happened, lead foot or something but it guzzled the 1/4 up not far from home, it was late at night, tried 3 of these so called 24hour stations and all were closed so i had no choice but limp home. Only just made it.

My most interesting experience was many years ago when I drove a luton van from the North East down to Kent and back again.

Ah, you see, lack of planning. Never let the needle fall below half before filling up - Simples! Besides which SWMBO would be on my case big time. It's got to the degree where the 7 year old checks the fuel when she gets in the car and asks me if I have any intention of getting diesel today even when it's 3/4 full. Oh how they mimic Mum.
