£20 of petrol (poll)

Took delivery of my new SD GS yesterday from Stratstone Newcastle. More on the vehicle after I've used it a while (all vv good at the moment!).

Handover was efficient and the sales guy didn't try too hard to sell me stuff I didn't want, so overall quite pleased. However, the shine was taken off by the fact that the fuel tank was only 1/4 full. According to the sales guy it's Stratstones's policy to put £20 of fuel in, only. Thereby making them £50 or so more profit per vehicle.

The last 2 cars I got (1 x BMW and 1 Audi) definitely had full tanks and if my memory serves me right the 2 new vehicles previous to that also had full tanks. So, is Stratstone pulling a fast one or are all dealers doing it these days? Brian

I will be picking up my new TD4 HSE from Lookers Park Royal hopefully within the next four weeks. They said they will be giving me a full tank to get back up the road to Glasgow.

Its these little touches that make a big difference.

£0, had to take a can of my own. Big Cry
Car supermarket not able to keep fuel on site, or in the vehicles. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

No, surprising as it is, I've never been near one, although I've heard the name. A sheltered childhood!

I have had a lot of new cars before. Most fill the tank up, some half fill it, some a quarter tank and once I had a pint of petrol put in when a full tank was promised. Of course I kept the fill up receipt, but never bothered with it in the end. Suppose I should have.

I remember getting a new RRS from one LR main dealer a couple of years ago and I moaned on there wasn't any diesel in it, nor mats or mud flaps and I was bluntly told I'd run them into the ground on price so much, there wasn't any profit in it for them. A pathetic excuse.

Car supermarkets should remind people when they have bought a diesel car.

Picked up my SD4 today from Stratstone Burnham, between half and quarter tank - didn't think to check before I drove off, otherwise I would have asked why it wasn't filled. However they have failed to charge me for several accessories by the looks of it (and the whole vehicle it seems based on my bank balance), so not too fussed overall.
