The looks and promise's seem better than the crap expensive junk that we get as standard fitting. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

Anything based on Windows CE 5.0 would give a little pause for thought before buying, not the most renowned embedder operating system.

Ready for navigation input interface(Main unit can control).

It's navi ready, it doesn't have a GPS hardware inside...
You need to buy a separate GPS box with video output.

As for the WCE 5.0, I disagree. Most (over 50%) of the current handheld GPS have Windows CE for the OS.
It's a very stable and mature now OS when used for the dedicated purpose.
I am excluding here situations when the user wants to hack it and use it with other applications and for other purposes than was designed to do.
And even so, it is still good.

It wont. It's a redundancy...
But it has to have something to justify the money, right?
Otherwise is just a VGA monitor with touch screen capability...
Not even a DVD payer, at most an MP3 player.
Do you see somewhere the CD/DVD hardware with its loading bay?
I believe it just know how to handle an external DVD box. Which must be purchased separately of course...

Having been involved and responsible for applications on windows mobile devices for over 12 years and cut my teeth on WInCE when it was first released and then subsequently most of the versions of WinMob since, I personally would not want to use it.
The Nokia microsoft partnership is interesting but where else could nokia go, symbian was dead, IOS wasnt an option and Nokia could not make a business case for being yet another droid manufacturer. Mokia and MS have yet to announce what will be put on Nokia hardware they were careful to not say it was going to be phone7 which is still a work in progress. When you have to get your CEO to announce that it does "cur and Paste" now you know that MS is in catch up mode.
Arguably the most popular and successful GPS (TomTom) does not use MS code but a version of Linux as do most wireless routers, lcd TVs, digital tv boxes.
All of this is a personal opinion and can be safely be ignored.

I'm not sure where this is all heading. The technology is developing so fast that many installers can't even keep up. I see a day where vehicles come equiped with a suitable sized and well positioned hi-res touch-screen and an amplifier wired to various speakers. "Things" that plug into it become optional - Reversing camera, dvd player, GPS/nav, bluetooth, AM/FM radio, DAB radio, Digital TV etc etc. It's a bit like desktop computers that come with the basics but have all manner of USB plugs available to connect all sorts of other "things."
I guess it would be a risky decision for anyone at Land Rover to pick a particular set-up and then find a suitable supplier, as it would be out-of-date by the time it reached the production line.
Here in Oz, small, cheap vehicles aimed at young adults already come fully equiped with all the latest gizmos.

The future for car auxilary electronics is easy: just put a stripped laptop in.

With that you can install, download, make connection to your homes wireless etc etc...
Full freedom, instead of all those in house developped systems.

We have our FL2 now three weeks, and never turn the satnav on anymore.
We put a tomtom on the touch screen. Much better interface...

does anyone knows the exact dimensions of the dash hole?
I know i could find myself the answer to this question, but, unfortunately, these days i don't have my car next to me.
