The fridge had been on 12v run and was trying to maintain the temp with it's door open, I also didn't do anything like I would to switch all power off in fuse box, that was a while ago now, this time round fridge was off, and everything else

See how it goes, if it needs a new one, I'll just look whats better priced, no point in having great battery when I always use hook up sites, Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Have you modified your fridge to run off the van battery ?
As RalphK said the fridge only works when towing with the engine running, the fridge cooling circuit is totaly seperate to the vans battery. The fridge light using the vans battery so if the door was left open, this would drain the battery but would take a while.

I was going to mod our fridge so it would use the vans battery while on the cross channel ferry to France. Much more vanner friendly over there, no mad chicken farmers at least Whistle

No no mod, I never read the manual Laughing I thought placing it on 12v option worked off van battery also and switched to car when car plugged in Embarassed

Can't have been the fridge then, but that was what I thought it was back in 08 when I first had to replace the battery, as you say it might have been the light

On my caravan I have, a switch that says car/off/van, from memory they told me to keep it set to car unless I was on a site without hook up, or is it the other way round Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I always keep mine on van as the way I see it.....

everything will run off the van battery (except fridge Whistle )
when towing the car will charge the van battery regardless of switch position and power the fridge when that is set to DC
then when on hook up the battery is still used but will be charged by the mains.

I could be wrong as it did confuse me at first

Result Very Happy

My mate in his RAC van dropped off the battery last night, the visual indicator that was showing, black (in need of a charge) was showing green (charged)

His meter also said it had gone from 300 sae? to 588 sae?, my battery charger was popped on it and it said 100%, but we decided that it would be no harm to leave it on charge and it started charging at 14.2v

I guess it needed that jolt to kick start the Censored in to been able to be charged Bow down

Maybe not a result, went to check in the battery today, been on charge since it's return, charger was flash red light and the FO5 code, which means replace battery, was 60% charged when checked

Pressed the recondition button, but I'm guessing ralph is right the battery is Censored Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Nick, the correct term rather than Censored is NFG (Make your own mind up on what it stands for but Not Functioning to Guidelines is near enough Laughing)

Oh and you will probably get a puncture driving into the scrap yard( sharp metal all over the place) so knock that off your profits. Just fetch your battery to my battery recycling station Whistle At work
