eeeeeeeeeerrrrrr any idea how to turn the ignition on?

This ought to be simple, but if I for instance want to turn on the ignition (simple with a key) to open and window or whatever how is it done. Pushing in the black fob thing seems to do "b" all to bring anything to life. Surely you don't actually have to start the engine every time?

Foot off clutch, just push the button and things should work.

Well I think you can put the fob in and press start button without your foot on the clutch/brake and this will fire up the basic pre-start crap without starting the engine. I believe you can open windows etc from there. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

You are talking about 2 ignition states:
1. Engine ON state - key fob in, brake/clutch pressed, short press on Start/Stop.
2. Ignition only ON state - key fob in, brake/clutch NOT pressed, LONG press on Start/Stop.

BUT...
People doesn't generally know that there is a third state of the ignition. Meaning...
3. Accesories only ON state - key fob in, brake/clutch NOT pressed, SHORT press on Start/Stop.

Apparently you won't notice anything, but the front cigarette lighter socket, the one ignition powered, will come to life. You can test it by having something inserted in the socket and you'll see....

There is a Quick Start Guide and the full Owners Manual and other info.

Well worth a visit.
