Sorry to say this mate but you have been ripped off big style. I had a puncture repaired about 2 months ago and payed £10 all in. Quick fit are some of the biggist rob dogs on the high street IMO. |

about a tenner and my local tyre guy repairs my punctures outside my house, obviously more if its not a simple mend, and I do give him a fair amount of work on tractor tyres so 'private' work is at a good rate At work

Oh dear, maybe I should have phoned round getting estimates before getting a puncture repair! Bit extreme. I thourght they'd be much of a muchness. That will teach me. I did think a tenner, but 21 quid! They did take a 'gauge' to it to see if it would repair. I don't know what that involved. To my mind, the screw that I'd picked up was in the centre part of the tread, so wheres the problem? Luckily I have a full size spare.

I am obliged to use Kwik Fit as my current car is leased, punctures have been done FOC, I guess they know they get the business. However, on four occasions they have damaged the alloys when changing tyres, on one occasion they didn't tighten the wheel bolts although the receipt gave the name of the fitter and the name of the supervisor who checked them!!

The filling of nitrogen for car tyres reduces corrosion because nitrogen is completely dry and because it has bigger molecules it will not leak so easily and for the ordinary guy with the ordinary car its a load of bull.

Agree, aero tyres I believe are purged though, to rid the air already in there, car tyres are simply inflated to pressure, the air already in there is not purged and replaced. If you say NO, do they use a different airline, nah, it's the same one By the way, how's the SD4, can't wait for mine, then Lancashire will have one too |

I recentlly had nitrogen in all my tyres (cost about 3.99), and all the air was removed first, it was actually quite a long job. They fit the machine to all the tyres at the same time and inflate and deflate until all the air is out and then fill with the nitrogen. Should mean that the tyres will not lose any pressure for quite some months.....and if they do, I just pop back for a re-fill. By the way....It was NOT kwikfit. |
