Cheers andw. That's what I thought at first. I checked the rear tyres quickly when I got in, but could see nothing. I'm going to jack it up and check all 4 tyres tomorrow. Hopefully that's all it is - don't like the tyres that came with it anyway.

Could be one of the light alloy sheilds that cover the driveshaft between the gearbox and the haldex. I had one bend slightly and it drove me mad until I was able to get under the car to find it and bend it back. It didn't rub all the time, and the frequency changed with road speed. |

obviously a stone or a nail in a tyre is the simple and normally most likely solution.

id go for the shields before ringing and see if you have one slightly bent by the way have you been throught any deep water latley as the force of the water splash can put the shields out off shape good luck |

Although the noise appears to come from the centre console area, dont forget noise travels and the source can be a distance away, you could be hearing it in the region of the console area because thats where the holes are for the handbrake and gearlever components in the floor, it might be something like the speedo cable from the gearbox? I was only wrong once and thats when I thought I was but wasnt. 2010 Freelander 2 XS Stornaway Grey 2010 Aston DBS Morning Frost 2010 Bentley Continental Brooklands Green |
