Can someone do me a favour please?

Think the bodyshop have forgotten to put back some padding / support material when fixing my motor. Please could someone open their passenger side rear door and then press the black plastic panel between the seat and the door catch on the right hand side as you look in the back door? It's the black plastic bit that goes all the way from the top of the seat to the tread plate and is rough plastic like the dash. Mine pushes in on the repaired side but doesn't on the other side (rock solid). I have removed the rubber door seal on both sides to have a look and on the driver's side there is a piece of styrofoam reinforcing the panel but it is missing on the other side. Cheers, mojo. Failing that, does anyone know if Topix will detail what should be there?

I have a feeling I know where you mean, but could you pop up a photo. If it's where I think it is, I had that trim apart this afternoon, not for the first time - don't ask, to do with retro electrics and yes, there is some hard foam on both sides.

Thanks guys. Dunroof, I think you are thinking of the bit I am thinking about, if you know what I mean. Think the bit that is missing may have been missing from day one as the door on that side makes a tinnier noise when you slam it compared with the driver's side, which may be because this foam stuff is missing. Anyway, cheers. mojo. Good website by the way CG.

Yes, i've had another read and thats definately the bit I had apart this afternoon and yes, you are missing a bit of foam about the size of a fist.

To remove that panel, open the boot, gently pull the plastic trim where the boot catch is. There are 6 trim pegs and 2 locators.

Then take a special driver and remove the two metal luggage hooks.

Remove the plastic T peg from the left hand side boot.

Remove the plastic nut and velcro bit from the left hand boot tray. Remove the small side tray.

Starting from the boot, gently pull the side trim away. There are three white plastic pegs going up the boot and another three going from near the rear seatbelt to the floor by the wheel arch. Be carefull, these pegs break very easily and cost just under 2.50 quid EACH!

Before you pull the trim away totally, unclip the boot light electrics.

You can now do your bit if you have the foam or if the foam has been left loose under this trim.

Replace same as take apart. WATCH locating the platic trim pegs, they have a certain amount of movement, but dont force them or they will BREAK. Also watch that the trim near the rear boot windows has gone back correctly. Take your time.

It will take you about 20 mins from start to finish including a cuppa.

Any problems, give me a shout and I'll photo the bit. It does mean dismantelling the side again, but if needs must.

Reminds me of the instructions needed to install the towbar electrics module Smile
Good explaination as to the removal of the trim panel. I can also confirm the cost of the white clips are approx £2.50 Big Cry scandalous. I had James Edwards (dealer) give me 5 spares as when i removed the panel three were broken. As they'd removed the panel previously to repair the reversing sensors Evil or Very Mad they'd obviously been less than gentle putting the panel back.
