or on a more sensible note get as much of the large box in the boot with the seats down and close the bootlid as much as it will go and tie it down, get a builders high viz vest and tie it to the end of your box

My suggestion was innovative, but why not utilise the side steps? A couple of straps and your set! |

It's an option but will have to take into account the 850 mile journey and possible sub zero temperatures while I decide. |

It's a running machine (treadmill) so the large box will be the bottom part with the belt and the other box will be the upright part with the console.

install the running machine in the boot, place a large dog on the machine, hang a bone infront of dog, use the energy to propel the car At work

Thanks - I'll keep that as an option after I've tried the shoe horn. |

Did you notice that there are two sizes of interior heights on the picture? Freelander II 2,2 TD SE Stornoway Grey Sorry for my wry English. I began to study it recently. I'll be thankful for your corrections of my mistakes |

I bet you're all wondering if my boxes went in the Freelander? Well, I'm afraid I didn't purchase the running machine/treadmill. I figured I'd run on the roads and went to AJS Tyres and spent the money on a set of steel wheels and winter tyres. So the alloys and Wranglers went into the car as well as stocks of baked beans and tea bags for the journey back to France.
