Sounds daft but have you checked the tyre for stones. Whenever I have heard a similar noise I have found a stone lodged in the tread LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

That was my first thought too. You can get a pretty big stone stuck in a 600mile old tyre. For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days. |

I'll have a look tomorrow (when it is light!) Never even thought of that. Always over look the simple. |

Funnily enough I noticed this on Thursday during heavy rain - I was diverted from the Motorway thanks to the Highways Agency Hi-Viz gestapo and had to travel my 60 mile commute home by rural A and B roads.

While you are checking for stones in the tyres have a quick look at the disc shield for any twigs stuck there. I had this not long after getting mine and it was a very annoying tick tick at low speed. |

It is all the time? Or just when engine is cold?

Checked wheel and brakes - all clear. The noise seems to be apparent at about 1600rpm and in all conditions.

Went on an experience day. One of the guys identified the noise as the potentiometer. Apparently some are quite noisy. Will get it checked next time it returns to the dealer. |

Hi, let me know how you get on. I have a very simular noise from the same area. Cant decide if behind dash or within engine compartment. It is exactly the same, i.e. at low revs. I have removed glove box to check behind but not determined where it comes from. My other thoughts were that it comes from ventilation system or even the turbo grill. |
