retrofitting

out of interest, would it be possible to retrofit the 'cold climate' option pack to a freelander 2?

I've found a couple of freelanders I'm interested in, but neither have this fitted.. ..i'd love nothing more than to no longer have to scrape ice on those winter mornings lol! Smile

Thanks

Send SWMBO out to do it, seriously though, we only got another month of it, so you should have a couple of months to sort it ready for next winter. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

not sure what exactly is in the cold climate pack

I think its, heated screen, washer jets and bum warmers

heated screen alone is about £750-£1000 then you have all the electronics behind, ecu, switches etc

washer jets, have been done, thread on here somewhere

bum warmers, don't think this has been down, though if the seats down have the element fitted anyway, again switches, ecu etc will make it expensive (or look at after market options)

So with the extra expence of fitting this you might aswell keep looking for one that got it fitted, and buy that one if it is so important. Wink Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Was there not a thread on here regarding missing bum warmers and they could not be done, I recall a batch of a certain model had the switches and nothing else Question p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Heated windscreen = best thing ever (well I exaggerate a bit, perhaps)

A heated windreen and -15 degree mix in my washer bottle coupled to the heated jets saw me through those terrible weeks in December.

Having had a heated windscreen before, it was the main factor that led me to choosing an XS as the perfect spec. Trevor

The screen thing is okay, but nothing more than than. It still takes time to defrost. Likewise the headlight washers and the heated jets. doesnt mean they dont freeze.

There are a lot of misconceptions regarding retro fit, truth be told you can do most things, but at a price. The wiring loom on FL2 are more or less identical, all you have to do is follow the wire back to one of the three fuse boxes and connect from there or thereabouts.

The heated screen washers are not that great on FL2 in my opinion. when the freeze really bites they remain Frozen.

My CLK on the other hand is awesome, you actually see the steam when blasting the windscreen! Never once did they ever freeze up! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Hi All Mrs has a 2009 GS, the windscreen has headed elements in visible but doesn't seem to be heated. I've looked in the relay box and there seems to be one heated windsow relay missing and one heated window fuse missing.

I'm not interested in washers or bum warmers , just want to make use of the seemingly fitted electric window.

Has anyone retrofitted these? What is there to it? Simple fuse and relay or is their any coding required.

Heated washer jets are not that fantastic. Not sure if the rear screen gets one in my cold climate pack but it certainly did not work yesterday until the outside temp was back above freezing. Evil or Very Mad FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Retrofitting heated seats is not too hard. We've done it in Stuarts 15MY FL2. I have a complete kit sitting in the corner of my office to go into the 08MY one as well... The tricky part is the programming to make it work, but we've figured it out now.

Heated washer jets, was an old easy upgrade on the X-Types, shouldn't be any harder on the FL2.

The heated windscreen is a big ticket item so unless you happen to have a smashed one and your insurance is paying, it's not what i'd call economically feasible...

EDIT

Ok I re-read your post and I get what you are saying now. So someone has fitted a heated screen to the car but obviously it's not working.

The problem here is, did the glazier actually connect the cables to the screen when they installed it. I haven't done this yet with the FL2 but with the X-Type all the wiring was there in place, but the connections to the windscreen itself were impossible to access with the windscreen in place, it could only be done when the glass was out... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Heated windshield in the L359 is really easy but as Cambo said, unless your windshield has been changed, to one with the elements, it's really expensive.
Both plugs are present in the plenum chanmber for left and right elements......really easy.
Main relay and fuse are present in engine bay junction box.
Of course HVAC ECU has to be changed to one with heated screen button.
I won't be doing it as it's absolutely unnecessary here is Australia, would never use it🔥🔥 MY15

Do you have access to the plugs with the windscreen in place though? I mean is it possible to confirm that the screen is plugged in, or plug it in if the installer didn't? 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Here's the passenger side plug in mine, you access it by removing the cover for the battery, currently it has a blanking cover in it.
To access the driver side you possibly access through the other inspection port in the plenum chamber cover or remove the wipers and then the whole cover which you have to do when replacing windshield anyhow. You would plug them in at that time. MY15
