I paid 1.37.9 today in Crawley but also noticed that unleaded was 6p cheaper than diesel, many years ago diesel was cheaper than unleaded, then they put more tax on diesel making it more expensive, last year there was only 2p a litre differance between unleaded and diesel now its 6p Evil or Very Mad Not bad considering diesel is a by product of oil. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Remember that Morrisons, Sainsburys etc are slightly cheaper than advertised because they give you loyalty points. Using a credit card that gives you money back (or extra loyalty points) also cuts the cost slightly.
That said, usually the cheapest I can find in this country is the Shell station south of the Tyne tunnel. Don't know what the prices are today as I'm 300 miles away. Best I've had recently was off-motorway in Luxembourg, but even there it's more than €1.00 a litre! Big Cry

In 2007 there was a 2p difference in fuel tax between petrol and diesel, this is no longer the case according to Petrolprices.com
"2011 Fuel Tax Figures
A 0.76p increase on the 1st January 2011 brought the duty rate for the main road fuels up to 58.95p per litre. This coincided with the 2.5% increase in VAT rate, which is now at record high of 20%"

Vat is charged on both fuel cost and vat Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.

Vat is charged on both fuel cost and duty. Which means you pay 20% tax on the tax you have already paid.
