Drivers seat wear

The padding in the outside edge of the drivers seat of my 3year old GS is geting a bit tired & the resulting lack of support means the seat looks like it is starting to wear. My local dealer says this is not a warranty problem.
A local vehicle upholsterer says he can re-foam the seat base but says it is a complicated job to remove due to seat belt & airbag electrics unless I want to take it out for the work.
Anyone with any experience of removing these items. Does the base come out on its own or do you need to remove the whole seat?. Also would this cause any problems with the airbags?
Have tried a search but couldn't find any info.

Thanks

It is a warranty job, but sounds like your motor is over 3 years old and pprobably not working off the manufactuers warranty.

I know they can replace the seat covers seperately, the foam seperately, both of which I had done under warranty. Failing that they are looking at a complete seat base. When my vehicle was into the dealers, it was no more than an hours job per seat. Think your vehicle upholsterer is trying to get you to pay for his Christmas Visa bill.

The arguement is that a well made seat wouldn't show wear to that degree, therefore must be a fault.

Why not try another dealer or two, all have different ideas.

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Zermatt Silver

We had the cover on the seat base replaced under warranty by Stratstones in Aylesbury just before our 07 plate ran out of warranty.

The seat cover had split in the middle of the leather panel on the outside edge.

This was just after we bought the car and the other one we looked at had an identical split.

The seat cover, be it Leather or Vynil has to be of Merchantable quality (fit for the purpose).
If the side has slit (only seen a Vynil one do this so far) then as this part does not come into contact with the users anatomy then it should not wear.
There could be a fault where the side is delaminating (Vynil only) this is a quality issue as the material delaminate is caused by friction on the seat rigid base.
There is a photo of this in another topic covering the same problem. Offset your Carbon emissions by boycotting Baked Beans and all Green Vegitables.
